What is a decision that you made, with maybe stocks or bonds, that you could have analyzed be better with something like a capital budgeting decision or security investment but didn’t? How would you have made a better investment decision?

I am interested in investing my money wisely. I am considereing stocks and bonds but I dont know where to go or what company. I live in Baton Rouge, LA. What would you suggest?

I have about $20k and I would really love to learn how to play in the trade - stocks - bonds etc. I did find a website that offers a free intro to internet self trade - but it sounds a bit fishy. How do the big guns learn? Is it a university degree? I am from Australia. I tam willing toput in the hard yards, but dont know where to start!! HELP!

im not us citizen nor Hong Kong resident. but i heard that i can invest in HK mutual funds that have interest in the us ranging from stocks, bonds or mutual funds. how i can do this? Can someone give me a list of banks and brokerage firms in Hong kong who provides such services? and which ones are better? thanks

Most mathematics professors love to invest their hard earned money. A recent survey of 150 math professors revealed that

111 invested in stocks;
98 invested in bonds;
100 invested in certificates of deposit;
80 invested in stocks and bonds;
83 invested in bonds and certificates of deposit;
85 invested in stocks and certificates odeposit;
9 did not invest in any of the three.

The commentary I’ve read says that stocks have a bad day when investors are afraid that interest rates will go up. But rising interest rates make bonds go down too! Is the historical advice–stocks and bonds move in opposite directions–no longer valid? Or is this just a temporary anomaly?

I understand how money is made buying low and selling high. I dont understand how an investor can have “cash in their pocket” from having money in stocks & bonds.

What happens to the stocks and bonds in my account purchased through the bank’s brokerage division if the bank fails????

Retirement, Life Insurance, stocks/bonds, Bank Accounts etc. We are in the process of a divorce and I need that information that he has kept from me. He is very controlling and has that kept confidential. I have already seen a lawyer… Isn’t there an easy way for the lawyer to request that information from him? Does my lawyer need my input so that we are sure to have ALL of the information? I’m confused. We have been married 7 years.

I would like to know what the basis is for the stocks and bonds that were in a living tust. When my father died I became the beneficiary of the stocks and bonds. I sold them and I need to know what the basis is. Is it:

1. The amount he invested in the stocks and bonds
2. The FMV of them at the time of death
3. Other
